About the Guide
Backwater Guides is led by Marshall Hosea, a licensed freshwater fishing guide.
With over 40 years of experience in the water as both a recreational and tournament Angler, Marshall shares his knowledge of, and excitement for, all things water-related with his customers.
Marshall’s love of the water goes back as far as he can remember. Some of his first memories are of fishing and learning about the the water with his father and grandfather. Shore and wade fishing were his early experiences; canoes, kayaks and Jon boats soon followed. Pontoon boats offered Marshall and his family the opportunity to enjoy the water and fish together. Bass boats and mud boats eventually became Marshall’s watercraft of choice and enabled him to hone his skills and expertise on the water.
Marshall has experience with fish of all varieties. He has fished Lake Livingston, Lake Conroe, Lake Houston, Caddo Lake, Inks Lake, Lake Texoma, Trinity River, San Jacinto River, Angelina River, Attoyac River, Lake Sam Rayburn, Lake Toledo Bend and numerous other bodies of water – with the majority of his time now spent on Big Sam and Toledo Bend.

Marshall shares his knowledge of fishing with you on water he is familiar with and he will put you on fish where there are fish to be found.
He guarantees you a limit of the species of fish you are targeting on your trip. In other words, your trip is not limited to a number of hours – rather a number of fish: the State of Texas limit for the targeted species.
